Muze Announces General Availability of MuzeMusic® 2.0
Muze Delivers the Industry’s Most Advanced and Feature-Rich Media Information Solution for Music
New York, NY — September 17, 2008 — Muze Inc., the only independent provider of entertainment information products, media preview and discovery services, today announced the general availability of MuzeMusic® 2.0, the next generation of its music media information solution. MuzeMusic 2.0 is a comprehensive music database that covers 100% of all commercially available album releases. MuzeMusic 2.0 contains normalized commercial metadata, expert editorial content, artist images, and music samples which enable companies to attract and retain subscribers to Internet destinations, mobile services, and social networking sites and to increase their sales of entertainment products – such as tracks and albums.
“For more than 17 years leading companies have come to rely and trust Muze to provide innovative solutions and services,” says Janice P. Anderson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Muze. “MuzeMusic 2.0 continues that tradition by defining a new standard in media information. We have completely re-architected our database structure, lowered the cost of implementing our solutions by providing a unified data structure across all our products, and extended and added new data to meet customer needs.”
MuzeMusic 2.0 integrates the entire suite of Muze music databases – including MuzeMusic®, Muze Essential Artists®, and the Muze Encyclopedia of Popular Music® – into a single, linked flexible data structure, creating the industry’s most comprehensive repository of rich descriptive data, editorial content, and relational links, spanning more than 50 years worth of popular and classical music releases. MuzeMusic 2.0 offers a single source for music media information, with greater breadth and depth of content, millions of new data elements that support artist and album profiles, and the industry’s only unified data structure that enables intelligent relational linking across media types. Flexible delivery options include ASCII and web services-ready XML feeds, for rapid deployment and seamless integration with a client’s existing infrastructure. Key new features and solution highlights include:
- Track level metadata and editorial - over 20 million new descriptive attributes at the song level have been added with details such as composers, themes, genres, and styles. The integration of these attributes with Muze album and artist metadata greatly improves navigation, refines search results, and provides key data elements necessary for generating high-quality recommendations and playlists.
- Modular data packages - four flexible data modules allow companies to use data that is most relevant for their business. MuzeMusic® Elements provides normalized topline commercial data and front cover art associated with an album release. MuzeMusic® Extended includes descriptive original editorial, biographies, reviews and rankings. MuzeMusic® Tracks Plus provides commercial metadata and editorial for individual songs, as well as International Standard Recording Codes (ISRCs). MuzeMusic® Illustrated provides artist images, high resolution cover art and 30-second music samples.
- Artist editorial profiles and images – provides rich editorial and descriptive profiles for artists that includes genres, styles, types, decades, instruments and roles. MuzeMusic 2.0 utilizes the new artist profiles to link similar artists and leverages album profiles to create associations between artists and albums. Also new in MuzeMusic 2.0 are artist images of the today’s top performers.
- Expanded editorial, reviews and images – enhances the user’s experience and improves search, discovery and recommendation results. New editorial features include the complete integration of Muze Essential Artists and Muze Encyclopedia of Popular Music into a single database, as well as ranking, weighting and editorial recommendations for selected tracks and albums.
MuzeMusic 2.0 is part of a suite of media information solutions and streaming media services for video, music, games and books. Also generally available are MuzeGames® 2.0 and MuzeTunes® 2.0. MuzeVideo® 2.0 will be available in November 2008 and MuzeBooks 2.0® in early 2009.
